JUST IN: Robbery Ongoing In Festac

There is a robbery attack going on in 4th Avenue, Festac area of Lagos state.

According to reports reaching Naij.com, the robbers have been shooting sporadically into the air for over an hour now. An eye-witness who spoke Naij.com revealed they are a group oil bunkers who came heavily armed.
‘They are a gang but I was able to see three of the gang. I was also lucky not to have an altercation with them,’ an eyewitness said.

Also, residents in the area say the bunkering operation began at around 5 am with sporadic gunshots. It took soldiers about 1 hour, 30 minutesnto respond to distress calls from the residents. The soldiers have blocked roads leading to 4th avenue junction and are said to be on the chase of the bunkers. How ever commercial activities in Festac are grounded, banks have remained shut for fear of robbery attack.

Robbery attacks in Festac are becoming frequent as just recently, a gang of armed robbers, all dressed in Army camouflage, stormed the Access and Diamond banks branches on 4th Avenue, Festac Town, Lagos state.
Naij.com correspondent, who was at the scene of the incident, gathered that the well-equipped robbers, about fifty in number, gained access to the area through a canal which was not quite close to the banks and continued shooting sporadically into the air.
