Fashola’s Appointment: Group Hails Buhari

The appointment of Babatunde Raji Fashola as the minister of power, works and housing has continued to generate reactions.

At a media briefing in Abuja last weekend, a group under the aegis of Gateway for Empowerment and Justice for Peace Initiative (GEJPI) commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his choice of Fashola, describing the president’s action as putting square peg in square hole, Leadership reports.
GEJPI appreciated President Buhari for listening to their voices to make Fashola a minister while others were against it.

The leader of the group Jide Cole said: “Yes, we are aware that the All Progressives Congress (APC) and our dear President Muhammadu Buhari were determined to bring on board the best technocrats and administrators into the new government; so now our expectations have been met and even surpassed as the president gave Nigerians a pleasant surprise.
“Therefore, we want to lend our voice by joining other well-meaning citizens of this great nation in thanking President Buhari for such great show of wisdom and administrative finesse. He has really fulfilled his promise of putting square pegs in square holes.”

According to the group, the good performance of Fashola in maintaining sustained economic growth and  infrastructure development in the last eight years in Lagos state, shows it is only appropriate that he (Fashola) was given a ‘heavy portfolio’ to handle.
Nigerians have also reacted to Fashola’s, and in a related development, the when he resumed for work.
He was received with ovation by workers at the Federal Secretariat at 3.15 pm on Wednesday, November 11 and was ushered into the office by Grace Papka, the Director in charge of Human Resources of the ministry.
When some of the recently sworn-in ministers have postponed the beginning of the work till November 17, Fashola, who is aware of the big task ahead, has hit the ground running.
