The immediate past Governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam, has been arrested by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, over alleged corruption during his tenure as governor.
Suswam was governor of the ‘Food Basket of the Nation’ state from May 29, 2007 to May 29, 2015.
“He was invited by the EFCC in connection with ongoing corruption investigation in Benue state”, the spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwajuren, confirmed to the online newspaper.
Mr. Suswam’s arrest follows last Friday’s questioning of the former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Omadachi Oklobia.
The EFCC had invited the ex-commissioner, who served in the immediate past administration in Benue State, to defend the allegations of diversion of public funds, abuse of office, embezzlement and fraud in the Suswam government.
